According to the DNR, the goal of
these courses is to reduce the
potential for boat accidents,
injuries and fatalities; to reduce
the potential for conflict between
different types of boating
activities and other resource users;
and to promote safe, responsible,
and ethical use of the environment
and our resources. This link
includes information regarding
upcoming boating safety classes,
accident reporting, accident
fatality summaries, safety tips, age
and certificate requirements and
theft prevention.

of State Boating Law Administrators
(NASBLA) and recognized by the U.S.
Coast Guard. The site also includes
safety links, boating tips, a
boating trivia contest, as well as a
section designed for kids. The kids
section includes answer to
questions, things you need to have
onboard, information about life
jackets and a section on distress
signals.

Boating Basics Online

This site includes an informational
guide regarding boating and boating
safety. Users have the opportunity
to take the final exam online for a
fee of $10 to be certified after
reviewing the guide. This Basic
Boating Safety course is approved by
the National Association of State
Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA)
and recognized as acceptable to the
United States Coast Guard
Recreational Boating Program. The
course is recommended as a starting
point for boating education.
